My heart is so small, how can You put such great sorrows in it?
Look He replied. Your eyes are even smaller yet they behold the world.

Its beautiful!
some of Runi’s poetry is so intense it’s scary sometimes, but beautiful nevertheless. thanks for this one
Its beautiful. I am not much aware of Rumi’s work. I am more aware of Omar Khayyams work, Rubayyat is beautiful too. But, perhaps a bit different style.
As always Rumi is unbelievably amazing.
I had a quiet gander at Omar Khayyams work once; it is in a different style, but its still nice 🙂
Beautiful. So much conveyed with so little.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
salams ! I love rumi , he has had such an effect on my life since i was introduced to his poetry , i was 16 then now i still read his work i dont understand muslims when they say his work is so blasphomose . If you have any idea on the matter let me know yeh ?
They say it is blasphemous because they don’t understand it and accuse him of pantheism (worshipping Creation as an extension of Allah), which in the one-dimensional way they understand it, is obviously shirk.
asalam alaykum , asiya so you do think rumi’s work is shrik ? or no I didn’t completely understand your comment .
No I definately don’t think his work is shirk…The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “That which I most fear for my community is hidden shirk. It is showing off.” Rumi among other things is referring to negating his nafs – ego, desires, showing off, so that he may accept Allah – and so takes the path towards Allah which Allah’s beloved Muhammad took (Allah’s Peace Blessings Grace and Mercy be on him and his family and followers)…Definately Rumi is one who constantly negates his own desires in pursuit of Allah, in doing so he brings out the spirtual aspect present among all creation…it is no more ‘myself’ for Rumi but only ‘Allah’…Rumi worshipping Allah by using everything Allah gave to him for worshiping Allah. And Allah gave something similar to everyone so that they may experience it. No burden on anyone that they can’t carry because there are more than one reliefs for each burden. Burdens are tests of your love and to show you the power of Allah so that you may remember. Everything is a gift.
Rumi:
I wonder
from these thousand of “me’s”,
which one am I?
Listen to my cry, do not drown my voice
I am completely filled with the thought of you.
Don’t lay broken glass on my path
I will crush it into dust.
I am nothing, just a mirror in the palm of your hand,
reflecting your kindness, your sadness, your anger.
If you were a blade of grass or a tiny flower
I will pitch my tent in your shadow.
Only your presence revives my withered heart.
You are the candle that lights the whole world
and I am an empty vessel for your light.
Rumi loves Allah so much that he will do anything for Allah. He sacrifices his body to Allah and by doig so becomes a giver to the rest of creation without limit…he becomes a vessel for the noor (light/guidance/and whatever else it means) Allah sent for all.
“Neither My heaven nor My earth could contain Me, but the soft, humble heart of my believing servant can contain Me.”
Of course this may seem like something of ‘shirk’ because Allah is not contained by anything not even time or space/”where” or the question of ‘how’ or any imaginable thought. Only Allah actually comprehends/knows Allah, so when he describes himself in the Quran it is from Allah’s all knowing persepctive not from our not knowing persepctive… This quote is not shirk, because what the MEANING (among other things) is the description of a state of such love, acceptance, and rememberance of Allah that the person who remembers with all their heart to this extent forgets even themeselves, they forget ‘who’ they are…they sacrifice everything and are just aching to get closer to Allah’s good pleasure…every moment is an oppurtunity and so every moment wherever they turn they remember Allah…Allah encompasses everything but everything does not encompass Allah…if Allah is closer to you than yourself, it does not mean that you are close to Allah; we do not see with the eye of certainty of Allah if we are not always remembering (silently and or openly) in all circumstances. So we should try to be with Allah as much as possible. You will be with the one you love. So love the Prophets and Messengers and the Seal of the Prophets Muhammad (Allah’s Peace and blessings on all Prophets and Messengers) because they were sent by Allah to people as lighted paths towards Allah. We are under the ummah of the egoless Muhammad (Allah’s Peace and Blessings on him) who took Allah’s path to Allah.
This life is beautiful because we go through a process of not knowing to an endless pursuit of knowing Allah to the point where everything in our life becomes the pursuit of Allah. Which is why in the endless Sunnah there are manners pertaining to all situations. Whether we choose to return to Allah or not we are currently tavelling towards Allah with every heartbeat and will end up there..so we might as well try to go on this path shown to us by Allah through Muhammad (Allah’s Peace and Blessings on him) and hasten our journey to Allah.
A quote from Rumi to treasure. Allahu akbar.
Mashallah beautiful collection of quotes, especially this particular one as it inspired me greatly.. Mawlana Rumi is a beacon of Light for all those seeking Allah! Those who object to his work are sadly blind to the light & I pray Almighty Allah guides us all. Also loved the quote of Mawlana Rumi in the comment above, just mesmerizing.
Jazakallah for this priceless gift!
